Long-distance public transportation resuming from today, domestic airlines reluctant to start service

Kathmandu, 17 September: The government, after a warning of violating the government order from the public transport operators, has decided to allow resuming long-distance public transportation from today despite rapidly rising the Covid-19 infection cases nationwide.

The government had also announced the resumption of domestic air services, however, the airlines companies have said that they cannot operate service under the present government safety guidelines. The government has said that the public vehicles, as well as the aircraft, should carry only 50 per cent of passengers out of their capacity.

Meanwhile, the government has allowed operating all business sectors by maintaining government announced safety guidelines.

Along with the opening of the long-route services, the government has allowed cross-district movement of the people effective from today.

Hotels and restaurants have also been allowed to operate by maintaining safety guidelines.

Nevertheless, the government has decided to keep close schools, cinema halls and prohibited on the mass gatherings.

Accordingly, the provision of odd and even number of vehicles in the Valley will continue. According to the Callander, even number vehicles can be operated in the Valley today.
