Dhangadi sub-metropolis has been providing free food and health facilities for Nepalis returning from India at border entry point, in Dhangadi.
Deputy Mayor Sushila Mishra Bhatta of the sub-metropolis said food and water were being offered to the returnees ever since the government imposed nationwide-lockdown imposed to contain the coronavirus.
She said the food was being managed in cooperation with different organizations and individuals. “There has been an uninterrupted distribution of food and water to India returnees,” she said.
She informed that health materials were provided to people with the support of an organization, Hope Bridge.
The deputy mayor said a hygiene kit containing soap, toothpaste, brush, sanitiser and mask has been provided to each of the returnees.
According to records of the Health Desk at Mitranagar entry point, around three to five hundred people entered the country daily through the entry point.
Aadarsha Nawa Youth Club at ward 5 of the sub-metropolis has been helping with food supplies to the returnees for the last three weeks at the entry point. The club’s Chairman Nirajan Khadka said the sub-metropolis had provided the club with required resources.
