Kathmandu, 3 September: In Nepal, businessmen, not the party leaders and cadres, are the dominating force in running political parties. In the recent dispute in the Nepal Communist Party, some controversial businessmen were seen active to end the dispute. Now, some businessmen have become active in the pioneer political party of the country, Nepali Congress.
Thanks to the coronavirus, due to the positive report, dollar billionaire Binod Chaudhari is in self-isolation, otherwise, the NC should have faced a big jolt.
Even during the prolonged lockdown in the city, the Hotel Vivanta in Jhamsikhel, owned by Binod Chaudhari was seen busy in hosting from breakfast to dinner to the NC leaders last Friday till Tuesday.
On one among the five days, president Sherbahadur Deuba and general secretary Shashank Koirala remained busy from breakfast to dinner meeting. The plan was to develop a new alliance in the party by adjusting Sherbahadur and Shashank and the plan was formulated by Arju Deuba, Sherbahadur’s spouse.
From Sherbahadur’s side, Umesh Shrestha, owner of the Little Angles School, Binod Chaudhari, Indra Bania were mediating. From Shashank’s side, Milendra Rijal, Deepak Giri and Deepak Khadka were active.
When Binod Chaudhari was seen coronavirus positive, all the participants at the meeting have gone to the home isolation.
The new alliance had agreed to support each other in sharing power, such as supporting Sherbahadur to the post of the PM, Ramchandra Poudel to the post of the President, Arju Rana to the post of party general secretary and Shashank to the post of the party president.
However, while forging this alliance, Bimalendra Nidhi, Prakashman Singh have not been included. With the confidence that they could be adjusted in the very alliance, they were not invited.
Accordingly, the follow-up meeting was said to adjust Arjun Narsingh KC and Krishna Shitaula and address other technical issues. Due to sudden illness of Chaudhari, the process has been stopped, for the time being, reports Jana Aastha vernacular weekly.
