Kathmandu, 2 September: After a halt on the business for the last five months, around 10 thousand businessmen in Thamel area are in crisis, many have already been displaced
Thamel, the tourist hub in the Valley, has remained closed since stop on the arrival of tourists due to the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the Thamel Tourism Development Council, there are around ten thousand businessmen and they were paying monthly 300 million rupees as house rent. When the business has been stopped, they have been displaced from Thamel.
House rent in Thamel is comparatively high and businessmen are unable to pay monthly house rent, thus, they have decided to close down their business.
Many of the businessmen are solely depended on foreign tourists. As the internal flights are suspended for months, the businessmen have lost their business, reports Karobar daily.
