Kathmandu, 9 September: The plan of misusing 33 billion 340 million rupees from the government coffer in the name of construction of the railway track from Inarwa to Kakarvitta has been cancelled.
A group of people closed to the government, including the construction contractors closed to different political parties, had developed a plan to misuse such a huge amount of money through a tender. The fact is that the government has yet to acquire the necessary land and also pay compensation for the land in different parts of the construction site. The tender was called without preparing necessary groundworks just with the plan of misusing the money.
After massive criticism from media, the Ministry for Physical Planning and Construction has decided to cancel the tender under the direct intervention from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Surprising to note, neither the ruling party nor the opposition parties had opposed the deal. Even the Commission for Investigation on Abuse of Authority had given the green signal to the government by neglecting a complaint against the tender.
