Kathmandu, 4 September: The Secretariat Meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Thursday endorsed the proposal of the party chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for recommending party’s vice chairman Bamdev Gautam as the member of the National Assembly.
Accordingly, the meeting also decided to discuss the report submitted by the task force and sending the report to the party standing committee and central committee for its endorsement.
Meanwhile, along with the party decided to send Gautam to the National Assembly, finance minister Yubraj Khatiwada is to compulsorily quit his ministerial position as there left only one seat to be nominated by the government on the National Assembly.
Earlier, Oli had wished to continue Khatiwada as the finance minister by re-nominating him as the member of the National Assembly.
In case, if Oli wishes to continue Khatiwada as the minister, one National Assembly member nominated by the government should tender resignation and the government can nominate Khatiwada to the vacant post.
Meanwhile, Gautam, after becoming the national assembly member, has wished to become the finance minister.
