As many as 12 locals are missing after being swept away by a flood in Dhorpatan municipality-9 of Baglung in Gandaki on Wednesday night.
The flood in Surkudung stream washed away at least 10 houses in Bobang, Surkudung and Serawang, inform locals. Inspector Prakash Singh Bhandari, the chief of the local Burtibang Area Police Office, says, “It is not confirmed how many people are missing and how much property was destroyed after the midnight flood. We have launched a rescue operation.”
Meanwhile, one local has been found dead, informs Chief District Officer Suresh Neupane. He says Nepal Army and Armed Police Force personnel have also been sent to the incident site for the search operation. CDO Neupane himself is visiting the site today.
Locals have also reported a landslide in the are. A landslide from local Deurali hill, the gateway to Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve, also damaged many houses in the village.
