Indian intelligence officer was here in PM Oli’s interest


Kathmandu, 25 October: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had made big effort to bring Indian intelligence officer Samant Goel.
PM Oli had used Ganesh Adhikari, chief, National Investigation Department, which is under the PM’s office, to bring Goel, chief, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), India’s external intelligence department, for a meeting, say sources.
At the invention of Adhikari, chief, NID, RAW chief Samanta Goyel had arrived Kathmandu on 21 October along with his team and returned to Delhi at around 10 am on 22 October, informed a source.
Goel had stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Baudha.
For the preparation of the visit of the Indian intelligence officer, as per Oli’s instruction, Adhikari had visited Delhi for two times in the recent past. His first visit was formal and the second visit was informal. He had met the RAW chief in Delhi. During the meeting, Adhikari had extended the message that PM Oli had wished to meet Goel.
Accepting Adhikari’s invitation, Goel had visited Kathmandu, the source said.
Oli is learnt to have made efforts to transform the present bitter relations into harmonious by using Indian intelligence.
Oli is learnt to have clarified his compulsion for deciding on the Kalapani territory occupied by India.
At a time when Oli is being cornered by forces within the ruling party NCP, he is trying to get the Indian blessing to retain in power, say political analysts.
