463 killed, 101 missing in ‘natural’ disasters in past 6.5 months

Kathmandu, October 27

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority says 463 Nepalis were killed and 101 are missing in various ‘natural’ disasters such as floods, landslides, and lightning in the past six and a half months.

The authority informs that these figures represent the losses occurred since April 13, 2020.

In this period, 295 people died in landslides, 65 in lightening incidents, 42 in floods, 21 in snakebites, 15 in incessant rainfalls, 13 in fire and 12 in animal attacks.

Likewise, 64 people are missing after landslides and 37 after floods.

The number of injured people in these incidents is 803 whereas properties worth Rs 797.5 million got lost.
