Virus surge continues as Kathmandu Valley reports 1,535 new cases

Kathmandu, 26 October: As many as 1,535 new cases of the corona virus infection have been reported in Kathmandu Valley on Sunday, as per the information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its daily media briefing on Sunday afternoon.

Among the 1,535 cases detected on Sunday, 1,225 are reported in Kathmandu while 147 cases of transmission have been recorded in Lalitpur and 163 cases in Bhaktapur district, according to the MoHP.

The three districts in the Kathmandu Valley- Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur- are among the districts with the highest number of Corona virus infection. So far, Kathmandu has recorded 19,826 cases while Lalitpur has 2,430 and Bhaktapur 1,494 has infection cases. As of Sunday afternoon, there are 23,750 active cases in the Kathmandu valley.

The new infections were confirmed through PCR tests conducted across healthcare facilities in the valley including National Public Health Laboratory, Patan Hospital, HAMS Hospital, Star Hospital, Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Nepal Korea Friendship Municipality Hospital and Birendra Military Hospital.
