Virus surge continues as Kathmandu Valley reports over 2,540 new cases

Kathmandu, 9 October: The corona virus infection cases in the Kathmandu Valley have jumped alarmingly by another 2,540 on Thursday, showing no sign of levelling.

Among the 2,540 cases detected on Thursday, 2,085 were detected in Kathmandu while 320 cases of transmission have been recorded in Lalitpur and 135 cases in Bhaktapur, according to the MoHP.

The three districts in the Kathmandu Valley- Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur- are among the districts with the highest number of Corona virus infection. The number of active cases reported in the Federal Capital is over 12,00 while Lalitpur has 1,700 live infection and Bhaktapur has recorded over 1,100 active cases so far.

The new infections were confirmed through PCR tests conducted across healthcare facilities in the valley including National Public Health Laboratory, Patan Hospital, HAMS Hospital, Star Hospital, Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Nepal Korea Friendship Municipality Hospital and Birendra Military Hospital.
