No lockdown again

Kathmandu, 3 October: The government has confirmed that lockdown will not be imposed in the country even if the active Covid-19 cases cross 25 thousand.

Health Ministry’s spokesperson Dr Jageshwar Gautam informed it at a regular press briefing on Covid-19 pandemic on Friday.

He made clear that there is no plan of imposing nationwide lockdown, however, he explained that if the cases will continue to rise, the situation may go beyond the control under the existing government structures.

“In such a situation, we will treat the patients by in cooperation with the private sector”, he said.

The meeting of the Incident Command System chaired by health secretary Laxaman Aryal last week had decided to recommend for lockdown if the Covid-19 active cases cross 25 thousand.

By Friday evening, the active cases were two thousand two hundred 34.
