Kathmandu, 6 October: A team of experts constituted by the government to collect evidence on Kalapani-Limpiyadhura as Nepali territory has submitted its report to Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali on Sunday.
The report has provided enough evidence to claim that the said territory belongs to Nepal, according to the Foreign Ministry.
The government had constituted a nine-member-team of experts under the convenorship of Bishnuraj Upreti, executive chairman of the Policy Research Academy in June for fact-finding on the Nepali territory.
International legal expert Suryaprasad Subedi, historian Ramesh Dhungel, legal expert Bipin Adhikari, water resource expert Jagat Bhushal, former director-general of the Survey Department Toyanath Baral, Nepal Army Lt General Himalaya Thapa (rted.) and former chairman of the community forest consumers federation Apshara Chapagain are the members in the team. Joint secretary of the Foreign Ministry Ramprasad Subedi is the secretary-general of the experts’ team.
The government had authorized the team to collect historical documents and evidence on Kalapani-Limpiyadhura and Susta, Nepali territory encroached by India.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali said that informal talks are being held with India at different levels to inform India about the Nepali territory and environment for formal talks is being developed.
Gyawali said that formal talks can be resumed at any of the levels – minister-level joint commission or secretary-level mechanism. A positive environment has been developed for talks, the Minister said, reports Naya Patrika daily.
