Virus surge continues as Kathmandu Valley with six deaths and 767 new cases

Kathmandu, 21 September: With six more fatalities, the corona virus infection cases in the Kathmandu Valley have jumped alarmingly by another 767, showing no sign of leveling.

As per the information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its daily media briefing on Sunday, with the latest addition, the Covid-19 infection tally of the Valley has soared to 14, 520. Among the new cases recorded on Sunday, 602 persons in Kathmandu, 101 in Bhaktapur and 64 in Lalitpur have been tested positive for corona virus. Bhaktapur has recorded the highest single-day spike.

The new infections were confirmed through PCR tests conducted across healthcare facilities in the valley including National Public Health Laboratory, Patan Hospital, HAMS Hospital, Star Hospital, Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Nepal Korea Friendship Municipality Hospital and Birendra Military Hospital.

Increasing number of Covid-19 infection is regularly being reported from within the valley in three digits since August 10. Public health experts have said that the virus has spread to community sending alarming signals. They have also urged one and all to take safety measures seriously and avoid crowds, remain indoors as far as applicable to flatten the curve.
