Complaint registered against the accused of rape incident in Saptari

Province 2, Saptari, Hanumannagar Kankalini, Ward 4 - #GBV, A complaint was lodged against 22-year-old Bhupendra Sardar Bantar of Gangapur in Madhavapur of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-4 on November 12 for raping a 19-year-old girl. The victim alleged that the accused raped her in the mango orchard on November 8. The accused have not been arrested so far.

Woman dies from husband's attack

Province 5, Banke, Baijanath, Ward 8 - #GBV, 52-year-old Chakra Bahadur Luhar of Baijanath Rural Municipality-8 Bargadi was arrested on November 11 on the charge of killing his 45-year-old wife Rati Sunar of Banke. Chakra Bahadur hit Rati on the head with an iron rod during a domestic dispute. Rati, who was critically injured in the attack, died while undergoing treatment at a nursing home in Nepalgunj.

Police arrests youth on the charge of raping a minor girl in Parbat

Province 4, Parbat, Bihadi, Ward 3 - #GBV, #Children’sRights, Police deployed from Area Police Office Huwas arrested 29-year-old Shobhakhar Darji a permanent resident of Phaleas Municipality-11 Parbat, residing in Bihadi Rural Municipality 3 on the charge of raping a 3-year-old local girl. Police arrested him immediately after being reported that he raped the minor girl on November 9. The complaint filed by the victim's mother was registered at Parbat District Court.

Youth kills co-worker in an inebriated fight in Pokhara

Province 4, Kaski, Pokhara Lekhnath, Ward 6 - #InterpersonalViolence, 23-year-old Nandalal Shrestha of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-1, Sindhuli was arrested for allegedly killing his 25-year-old friend Krishna Chaudhary of Dang by hitting him on the head with a stone in Lakeside Basundhara Park in Pokhara-6 on November 7.  Chaudhary and Shrestha used to work together collecting and selling rags. They had a heated argument over the issue of cigarettes under the influence of alcohol. Shrestha threw stones at Chaudhary three times and seriously injured him. Chaudhary, who was undergoing treatment at the Western Regional Hospital, Pokhara, died on November 7. Shrestha, who was absconding after Chaudhary's murder, was arrested by the Kaski police on November 10 while he was going to Kathmandu through Rexa at Tanahu Abu Khaireni-2.

Chand-led CPN leader arrested from Kavrepalanchowk on extortion charge

Province 3, Kabhrepalanchok, Dhulikhel, Ward 12 - #Political, Kathmandu - Police here today arrested a leader of Nepal Communist Party-Maoist led by Netra Bikram Chand aka ‘Biplav’ from Kavrepalanchowk district on the charge of extortion. According to the District Police Office, Kavrepalanchowk, 54-year-old Madhusudan Bajagain from Shankhupatichaur in Dhulikhel Municipality-12 in the district was arrested for his alleged involved in extortion. DSP Kumar Bikram Thapa shared that Bajagain was nabbed from his residence. He was arrested on a tip-off that he was involved in extorting money by threatening the businessperson in the district. Bajagain has admitted to police about his association with the Chand-led party that has been declared a terrorist outfit by the incumbent government. He had hurled foul words at police when police interrogated him at his home. Police said that they were investigating the case after taking him on remand.

Police arrests accused of human trafficking from Nepalgunj

Province 5, Banke, Nepalgunj - #HumanTrafficking, #GBV, Police arrested 50-year-old Muna Airi of Kohalpur Municipality-11, 30-year-old Durga Gurung of Baijnath Village Municipality-3- and 52-year-old Motilal Kumai of the same place on November 9 on charges of trafficking two girls of age 12 and 14. The victim's side  lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office, Kohalpur on November 9 alleging that the victims were trafficked  and forced to engage in sexual activities at a guest house in Nepalgunj since May 25. The victims were immediately  rescued on  and handed over to their families on the same day. 

Symbolic protest staged against violence using blood stained t-shirts in Chitawan

Province 3, Chitawan, Bharatpur - #Governance, Scientific Socialist Communist Party staged a rally at Chaubiskothi in Bharatpur on November 10 against the heinous murder, violence and rape against women and Dalits across the country. Symbolically, the demonstration was carried out in a white T-shirt with blood on it, fingers cut off, and bandages on the forehead and fingers as a sign of pressure to hold the government responsible for the bloodshed caused by various forms of violence against women and Dalits. The killings of Dalits and women have increased in Madhes and as the government is quiet about the incidents, they called on all people to rise up against the heinous crimes against women and Dalits. The protesters chanted slogans such as 'End caste system, beware of rape, and government should be vigilant to prevent rape'. They said agitation would intensify if the government did not address the demands of ending caste system.

Man arrested for raping a minor in Kathmandu

Province 3, Kathmandu, Kageshwori Manahora - #GBV, #Children’sRights, Police arrested 52-year-old  Chakre Tamang of  Dhading Dhunveshi Municipality-9 on the charge of raping a 7-year-old girl in Kageshwari Manohara Municipality of Kathmandu. He was currently living in Ramnagar Chiplegonda, of Kageshwari Manohara Municipality-8.

Elderly man sexually abuses 10-year-old in Siraha

Province 2, Siraha, Laxmipur Patari, Ward 5 - #GBV, #Children’sRights, A complaint was lodged against 60-year-old Mahendra Yadav of Laxmipur Patari Rural Municipality-5 at the Area Police Office, Maheshpur Patar on November 7 for sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl. The victim's mother lodged a complaint alleging Yadav of sexually abused the victim on November 6. The accused Yadav is still absconding. 

Police arrests accused of human trafficking from Lalitpur

Province 3, Lalitpur, Mahalaxmi, Ward 9 - #HumanTrafficking, #GBV, Police arrested 55-year-old Gautam Lama of Lalitpur Mahalaxmi Municipality-9, Lamatar on November 4 on the charge of trafficking a 23-year-old woman. The woman was sexually exploited for 10 years under the pretext of providing lucrative employment abroad and was trafficked to Lebanon through Delhi, India.

A minor raped in Dang

Province 5, Dang, Tulsipur, Ward 17 - #GBV, #Children’sRights, A complaint was lodged at Area Police Office Tulsipur against a 19-year-old Umesh KC of Dudharas in Tulsipur Sub-Metropolis-17 on the charge of raping a minor. KC allegedly raped the 11-year-old girl on November 3. Meanwhile, the search for the absconding accused is underway. DSP Shiva Bahadur Singh of the Area Police Office Tulsipur said that he could not comment until the accused is arrested and the medical report of the victim is received.

Headmaster found dead in suspicious circumstance in Darchula

Province 7, Darchula, Shailyashikhar, Ward 9 - #InterpersonalViolence, A person was found dead in a suspicious circumstance near a canal in Jagatpur Shivadham of Shailyashikhar Municipality-9 of Darchula on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Govinda Gharedi of Dadabagh Basic School, Kimichor in Dilasheni Rural Municipality-2 of Baitadi. Govinda's was found head inside and hands were found outside the RCC canal. \According to the police, they found Rs 85,000 in cash along with a bag, mobile phone, bank check book and other belongings from the deceased. From the bruises on the dead body, it was said that the victim was attacked with a sharp weapon on his head. On November 2 he had gone to the school to pay salaries of the teacher.

DDC chairman padlocks municipality office in Sarlahi

Province 2, Sarlahi, Malangawa - #Governance, Chairman of the District Coordination Committee (DCC) Methur Chaudhary padlocked the municipality office after the dispute between Mayor Nirsal Sah and Deputy Mayor (DM) Shavanam Mikrani in Malangwa municipality escalated on November 3. DM padlocked the accounting branch of the municipality on November 2 accusing the mayor for not being transparent but the mayor broke the lock. After this, DM again marched to the municipal office carrying the lock key which escalated the controversy. DM’s demanded mayor to make the Corona expenditure and agriculture irrigation transparent. She alleged that Mayor, along with Administrative Officer Homnath Subedi, acted against the decision of the council by arbitrarily hiring employees, interfering in her role and not paying the salaries of cleaning staffs. Meanwhile, the mayor denied all the allegations. Slogans, processions and sit-ins were also held by DM at the municipal office premises on November 3.As the situation became tense, a large number of security personnel were mobilized. DCC Chairman said that he locked up the office to end the conflict and would open it only after resolving the issue through discussions between the two sides. Earlier, the two sides held long discussions to resolve the dispute but that did not reach any agreement.

Rural municipality and school in Bajhang padlocked over formation of management committee

Province 7, Bajhang, Bithadchir - #Political, Locals of Bithadachir rural municipality of Bajhang padlocked the rural municipality office and Sunkuda Secondary School over the formation of school management committee and teacher recruitment on November 2. They locked the office of the school and the room of the chief administrative officer of the municipality, education branch and administration demanding the school management committee to form a new committee from the general assembly where there should be no role of former chairperson in the teacher recruitment process .Ramesh Adhikari, the old chairman of Sunkuda Secondary School, had formed a committee to be the chairman again. Local Sher Singh Kami filed a written petition in the district court in Bajhang alleging that the management committee was formed in a one-sided manner and the case is pending in the Dipayal High Court. Locals alleged that the chairman of the management committee, Adhikari, hastily called for a teacher's application to hire a relative as an English teacher while the case is pending in the court.

Anti-India demonstration at Maitighar by 21 party alliance

Province 3, Kathmandu, Kathmandu - #Political, Around 25 people from 21-party alliance gathered at Maitighar Mandala and protested on November 4 against the visit of Indian Army Chief Manoj Mukunda Narwane to Nepal alleging it as an insult to Nepal's sovereignty as he spoke against sovereignty while unraveling new map of Nepal. Narwane during the eruption of border dispute remarked that Nepal raised the issue of Lipulek at the behest of someone, pointing China. They chanted slogans such as "Indian Army should leave Kalapani, repeal unequal treaties, stop interfering in Nepal, and go back". Police officers from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Singha Durbar and others reached the protest site but no one is arrested yet. Indian Army Chief Narwane arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday for a three-day visit at the formal invitation of Chief of Army Staff Maharthi Purnachandra Thapa. 

Mahakali Highway blocked in Darchula demanding arrest of headmaster's murderer

Indian citizen arrested for raping an 11-year-old girl in Kathmandu

Province 3, Kathmandu, Kathmandu, Ward 17 - #GBV, #Children’sRights, Mujbil Ansari, a 45-year-old Indian man was arrested on November 2 on the charge of raping an 11-year-old girl in Kathmandu. Ansari used to work in the same place as the girl's father. Ansari was arrested from his temporary rented residence in Kathmandu Metropolitan-17, Dhobichaur. Police are conducting further investigation on him.

Man arrested on charge of abusing on-duty police in Gulmi

Province 5, Gulmi, Resunga, Ward 8 - #InterpersonalViolence, Police arrested 46-year-old Bishnu Bhattarai of Sarauli, Sainamina Municipality-2, Rupandehi on November 1 on the charge of abusing on-duty policeman at Resunga Municipality-8, Chidichaur. Bhattarai allegedly abused, threatened and beat the policeman while he was questioning Bhattarai.Police are conducting further investigation in this regard. 

NSU stages demonstration in Kathmandu against the government

Province 3, Kathmandu, Kathmandu - #Political, #Covid-19, The Central Committee of Nepal Student Union (NSU), a sister organization of the main opposition Nepali Congress staged a demonstration with slogans in Pardarsani Marg, Kathmandu on November 1 against the arrest of their cadres on false charges and the government's withdrawal from the treatment of Corona infected persons. Police had arrested some NSU cadres on the charge of being involved in the attack on Tribhuvan University Associate Professor Prem Chalaune. Meanwhile, NSU denies all the charges.

Six held in connection with youth’s murder in Dhapasi

Province 3, Kathmandu, Tokha, Ward 5 - #InterpersonalViolence, KATHMANDU: Police have arrested six individuals in connection with the murder of a youth in Tokha Municipality-5, Dhapasi. The arrested are six including Dibas Adhikari, a local, and Ravi Magar. The details of the others are yet to be revealed. Police said they are searching other two people involved in the murder. Ashish Magar, 24, of Gorkha died in the gang fight that took place apparently over the issue of a girl, according to SSP Shyam Prasad Gyawali of Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu. Magar died at Chirayu Hospital after being stabbed by an unidentified person on the premises of Devi Temple at Dhapasi Heights, police said.
