KATHMANDU: People from across Russia took to streets in snowy weather in support of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny demanding his release during the Saturday protest.
An estimated 40,000 people braved the streets where police charged heavily upon them to break the rallies.
In Moscow alone, police detained 1,100 people whoop more than 3,000 people were arrested across the country.

Social media, including Twitter, is flooded with posts, tweets, comments with videos on this dramatic scene where people from around the globe posted slogans such as “Be Brave for freedom”, “Keep fighting, citizens of Russia”, “Best wishes, truly”, and more.
Meanwhile, a video of people showering snow upon the police showed the intensity of the current scenario in Russia.
