KATHMANDU: The United States senator Bernie Sanders responded, “I was just sitting there, trying to keep warm” after the photo of him captured during the inauguration ceremony of US President Joe Biden went viral in social media last week.
The senator from Vermont, who was photographed with him bundled in his winter gear including mittens, went on to be part of memes in thousands of social media posts by people worldwide.
During his appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers”, Sanders said that he had no idea he was going to go viral during the inauguration. “I was trying to pay attention to what was going on.”
The mittens, worn by Sanders in the photograph was made by a Vermont school teacher, Jen Ellis, who according to Sanders was overwhelmed by the kind of attention that was being shown to her mittens.
