JHAPA, JANUARY 22
Nepali Congress former general secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula today accused Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leaders of being anti-national.
Addressing a meeting organised by Nepali Congress, Jhapa, in the district, Sitaula argued that KP Sharma Oli’s three years in power was against the people and country. “Oli used all his energy to increase his faction’s power. He crossed the limit and is acting against people and country’s interest,” he added.
The Parliament met with untimely demise due to Oli’s arrogance and self-centredness, he said. Sitaula reiterated that Oli’s arrogance and self-pride had inflicted pain to people and country.
The NC leader, stating that dissolution of the House of Representatives was unconstitutional and undemocratic, said, “It was wrong to dissolve the Parliament without facing the Parliament.”
He expressed confidence that the Apex Court would revive the House and help bring the derailed politics back on track. He also reminded that the constitution was written after holding long consultations with lawyers and former justices, including the provision of Parliament dissolution by the prime minister.
“The constitution clearly states that the prime minister can not dissolve the House,” he added. Sitaula made it clear that his party would struggle to institutionalise the democratic system and its values and norms in the country.
