LALITPUR, JANUARY 22
Nepal Police Club thrashed Chaudandigadhi Municipality 6-0 for their first win in the Women’s National League here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.
Rekha Poudel and Amrita Jaisi scored two goals each for the departmental side, while Srijana Khadka and Nirmala BK netted one apiece. NPC, who had played a goalless draw with Tribhuvan Army Football Club in the inaugural match on Wednesday, accumulated four points from two matches. Poudel opened the scoring in the 28th minute when he slotted home from close range following a pass from Niru Thapa. Jaisi then made it 2-0 in the 40th minute after Chaudandigadhi goalkeeper Devika Shrestha failed to stop her powerful shot from the edge of the box despite getting her hands to the ball.
Player-of-the-match Khadka extended the lead moments before the break.
Chaudandigadhi goalkeeper Shrestha failed to gather Khadka’s shot and the ball hit the post, rebounded to play and entered the goal with a deflection to the keeper. BK made it 4-0 in the first half injury time with her solo effort.
NPC netted two more goals in the dying moments of the second half to complete the victory. Poudel netted her second goal in the 89th minute from outside the penalty box, while Jaisi found the back of the nets in injury time following a pass from Pooja Rana.
