NAC becomes a white elephant

Kathmandu, 3 August: Bankrupt Nepal Airlines Corporation has decided to dispose of all six China manufactured aircraft saying that it caused loss worth billions of rupees. Only two aircraft were providing service, whereas, the rest were grounded at the Tribhuvan International Airport since they arrived in Kathmandu. The Airlines has clarified that due to lack of pilots and short supply of spare parts, most of the aircraft were grounded for years. Aviation experts say that due to lack of management efficiency, the Airlines was unable to earn profit from China built aircraft.

Sources in NAC, a government undertaking, say that the airlines is planning to purchase stall aircraft by disposing of all China-made aircraft as there is an attractive amount of commission while procuring and disposing of aircraft. These days, NAC and all other government undertakings have become the venue for rampant corruption and they have become a white elephant for the government.

Such failure of all the government undertakings is related to the political system that we have adopted.
