Lockdown in Kathmandu?

Kathmandu, 3 August: Health experts are continuously asking the government to conduct throat swab test at mass in tackling the Covid-19 pandemic. The government didn’t respond to experts’ advice. Now, the Covid-19 infected cases have crossed 20 thousand and there is the suspect that the pandemic has already reached to the community level, which is very much alarming. The flow of people entering from India has not been stopped. Also, the flow of people entering Kathmandu from different parts of the country has increased. If the government cannot stop people entering Nepal from India, it should conduct throat swab test to all those arriving from India at the Nepal-India entry point and keep them at the holding centre unless they are confirmed Covid-19 negative. Also conducting PCR test on those who are entering the Valley from outside, this is the only alternative to cope with the pandemic.

Besides, the role of the general public is also vital in coping with the pandemic. They should follow the guidelines prescribed by the health experts – frequently washing hands with soap, using a mask, maintaining physical distancing, avoiding crowds and meetings.

Neglecting experts’ advice, the government is thinking about imposing lockdown again, according to reports!
