Kathmandu, 27 August: The government has wasted one week by doing nothing in the fight against the Covid-19 spread after imposing prohibition order in the Valley.
The district administration officers in the Valley have expressed dissatisfaction as the government was unable to conduct mass testing and contract tracing during the prohibition period. They have alleged that the Health Ministry and local bodies have performed reluctance in conducting mass testing and contract tracing during the prohibition period.
The district officers in the Valley have jointly announced prohibition order in the three districts in the Valley since 19 August restricting all kind of movement of the people after a rapid increase on the number of the Covid-19 infected cases. However, during the seven days of the order, mass testing and contract tracing have not been conducted, reports Lokantar online news portal.
Again, the government has extended prohibition period until 2 September.
Kathmandu Chief District Officer Janakraj Dahal said that only by keeping people inside their home risk cannot be minimized. Along with prohibition order, mass testing and contract tracing have to be conducted, he said.
