
Kathmandu, 27 August: The board meeting of the Banijya Bank scheduled for 26 August has been postponed following the controversy of appointment of the Bank’s chairman.
The government had appointed Upendra Koirala as the board member of the Bank with the plan of assigning him to the post of the Bank’s chairman from the board meeting of 27 August. After dispute among the board members on the appointment of a controversial person as the chairman, the meeting was cancelled. When the next meeting is going to take place, it is not confirmed, reports Naya Patrika daily.
Koirala is known to be co-father of DPM and defence minister Ishwor Pokhrel and Koirala is the person who has enjoyed power through a political appointment in the past when the then UML was in the government. However, he was alleged for being involved in corruption in every appointment.
