Murder by Sriman (husband), a cartoon appeared in the Naya Patrika daily
Kathmandu, 25 July: Different social networks are full with the photographs of waving hand by former Armed Police Force officer Rajnjan Koirala after his release from the jail following the Supreme Court verdict.
Former APF officer Ranjan Koirala was jailed for murdering his wife very cruelly. The bench of Chief Justice Cholendra S Rana and justice Sapana Malla gave the verdict to release Koirala even before completing his jail term for 20 years by discarding verdicts from the lower courts.
Noted former Nepal Television news anchor Rama Singh wrote on her status in Facebook, “Where to go if justice is denied? Yesteryears, we could go Gorkha if justice was denied.”
She was hinting that there was the king to give justice and the present perversion is the result of the republic system adopted by the nation.
Noted constitutional expert Dr Bhimarjun Acharya has twitted, “This is perhaps the first incident of the public demonstration against the Court. This is a serious subject. To save the court, all the recent appointments of the justices have to be reviewed and there should be an impartial selection of the justices”.
Academician Deepak Gyawali, replying to Acharya’s twit, has remarked, “This is the byproduct of the system we have adopted. Everything will be okay if the present system is scrapped!”

Besides the above remarks by the public figures, many intellectuals have expressed their utter dissatisfaction on recent controversial verdicts from the court. Some have even demanded impeachment against the justices. People have also staged a demonstration at Maitighar Mandala protesting against the court verdict.
As the political leaders in the government and opposition are practising political sharing in such appointments, all the sectors have been destroyed, the court alone is not an exception.
People have started to recall the monarchy days when rule of law has been ended in the country.
