NCP standing committee meeting postponed again

The standing committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party in Kathmandu, on Tuesday, June 30, 2020.

Kathmandu, July 28

Once again, the standing committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party has been postponed.

The meeting was scheduled to take place at 11 am this morning. However, it has been postponed until the next notice as the two chairpersons, KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, were yet to hold a discussion to prepare the agenda for the meeting, informs Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s press advisor Surya Thapa.

The meeting begun around a month ago has been halted time and again after a majority of the party leaders backed by Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal demanded that KP Sharma Oli resign from the premiership and the party chairmanship, which Oli has been refusing to consider. Last week, the meeting was postponed for today citing recent monsoon disasters in the country, but apparently, that was just an excuse to hid the dispute.

Just on Monday, Dahal, Nepal, Jhala Nath Khanal, and Narayan Kaji Shrestha had concluded that the standing committee meeting should not be postponed again.
