Kathmandu, 26 July: By ending the legacy of his father, Sunil Bahadur Thapa, son of the former prime minister and a paramount leader during the Panchayat days, and founding chairman of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, late Surya Bahadur Thapa, has decided to join the Nepali Congress party by quitting the party established by his father, RPP.
Against Sunil’s decision, party chairman Kamal Thapa has twitted: “If this is true, it would be the end of five-time PM and founder president of RPP Surya Bhadur Thapa’s legacy. Despite differences/discomfort @SunilBdrThapa1 should fight/save the brainchild of his illustrious father. Instead of taking shelter somewhere else, help strengthen your own house!”
Dissatisfied 31 members, including Thapa in the RPP have learnt to have tendered their resignation with the plan of joining NC.
They had held several rounds of discussions with NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba before joining the party.
