NC leaders in the race of party leadership

Kathmandu, 24 July: NC’s senior leaders have already started the race to capture the party leadership, although, there is still doubt on a timely national convention of the party. The party has already decided to hold the 14th national convention of the party beginning from 19 February 2021.

However, many internal works have to be done before the party national convention. After the nation adopted federal structure, the party, as per the statute, has to form its province-level structure. Likewise, the central committee has not been able to form all its departments.

Presently, party president Sher Bahadur Deuba’s group is keen on distributing active membership, which has been opposed by his rival groups in the party. If the dispute in the party will further intensify, the national convention of the party may become uncertain.

President Duba himself is planning to contest the party election to the post of the president once again. On the other hand, Sekhar Koirala, Shashank Koirala, Ramchandra Poudel are also preparing to contest on the president’s post. If there will be more than one candidates from Deuba’s rival group, at that cost, Deuba will be a strong candidate. If anti-Deuba camp will be able to give only one candidate, in that situation, it will be difficult for Deuba to ensure his victory.
