Monday is decisive day for NCP
By Our Political Analyst
Kathmandu, 5 July: Senior leaders in the Nepal Communist Party have planned to take action against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from the Party secretariat meeting to be held on Monday, 6 April.
As Delhi is intended to punish Oli at any cost, it is going to happen without any delay, say political observers.
The decision could be recalling him from the government and suspending him from the party chairmanship, according to the high-level sources in the Madhav Nepal-Pushpakamal Dahal camp.
In fact, in accordance to the party statute, the secretariat meeting cannot take such an action against the party chairman and the prime minister. Only the party central committee is authorized to take action against the prime minister and party chairman. Nevertheless, out of nine members, six members are prepared to sign on the document against PM and arty chairman KP Sharma Oli.
On the other hand, immediately after the action against Oli, the Oli camp is going to recommend the President to issue an ordinance on party split. The ordinance could be that minimum 40 or less than 40 percent of the MPs may split the party. Following the ordinance, Oli, with the support of MPs in favour of him, is going to announce a new party saying goodbye to his colleagues in Nepal-Dahal camp.
The new party under Oli’s leadership may develop alliance with the Nepali Congress to continue in the power.
Blame game:
Prime Minister Oli believes that since amendment of the constitution by incorporating the Kalapani-Limpiyuadhara territory, Indians have mobilized Nepal and Dahal to ask resignation from both the posts.
On the other hand, Nepal-Dahal camp blames that Oli performed autocratic attitude and bypassed the party, which has defamed the party image.
Nepal-Dahal power sharing strategy:
Although, NCP leaders claim that there was no design to initiate impeachment against President Bidya Devi Bhandari, the Nepal-Dahal front was developed along with the assurance to JN Khanal to reward him as the President and Bamdev Gautam as the next PM.
However, Gautam is again going to be deceived in the party as Dahal will become the party president and Nepal will enjoy the post of prime minister for the time being if the mother party will be able to form the government in alliance with the NC.
