Nepal, India at no talking relations
By Pushpa Raj Pradhan
It has been already eight months since India included Nepali territory Kalapani-Limpiyadhura in her new political map along with ending autonomy of the people in Jammu and Kashmir, followed by Nepal’s strong reaction by sending diplomatic note protesting the Indian act, the Indian leaders and officials have stopped talking with the Nepali leaders and officials.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is learnt to have making continuous efforts to talk with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi over telephone and he has even used some backdoor channels but the Indian side has not responded.
Accordingly, our ambassador in Delhi, Nilambar Acharya is making efforts to hold talks with the South Block officials and also with Minister for External Affairs S Jayashankar, yet, he has not become successful.
The Indian message is clear that the Indian officials don’t want to listen anything about the Kalapani territory forcefully occupied by the Indians.
Indians have said that after end of the Covid-19 pandemic, India would hold talks with Nepal.
The Indian opposition parties, as well as many Indian intellectuals have remarked to resolve the ongoing dispute between Nepal and India through diplomatic talks, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declined it. Currently, India is engaged in clash with China, thus, it is expected that there will be no talks between Nepal and India in the near future.
India preparing war on China?
The Gorkha army personnel, Nepali nationals in the Indian Gorkha regiment, arrived home on leave are called back to join their duty. Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, those in the Gorkha Regiment are returning on duty via Sunauli border pass.
India is always deploying the Gorkha Regiment in sensitive disputed areas. It is believed that the Gorkha force is likely to be deployed in the India-China disputed territory in Ladakh.
Indian PM Modi has remarked that India would give strong reply against killing of 40 Indian army personnel on recent bloody clash between India and China in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh.
While watching the Indian television networks, it gives the impression that India is well prepared for the war and no one can stop India from a massive attack on China soon.
May be, Modi believes, he will bag American support on his war against China!
India, Nepal and China:
When Nepal published a new map by incorporating Kalapani to Limpiyadhura territory, the Indian Army chief remarked that under some other countries’ provocation, Nepal has made such a claim! Again, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made the similar remark. The indication was towards China.
The Indian conclusion is that the Nepal Communist Party is completely sided with China. So far, the Nepal Communist Party’s video conference with the Communist Party of China attended by party co-chairman Pushpakamal Dahal has further confirmed the Indian claim.
Indians have become furious with the Nepali political leaders as Indians have felt that the Nepali leaders have betrayed them against total support the Indian government had provided to the political parties in 2006 people’s movement. To recall, Indians had endorsed the 12-point deal among the political parties in Nepal along with the then Maoists in bloody insurgency.
The then South Block bureaucracy, Indian intelligence and so-called Nepal experts such as Shyam Sharan, SD Muni, Sitaram Yachuri, among others had played the key role while empowering the present day leaders in Nepal. Therefore, they are time and again, claiming for the credit on their contribution for the regime change in Nepal.
Is Nepal aware about the situation?
Currently, Nepal is fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic, which has gone out of control. In the meantime, a section of corrupt political leaders and high ranking bureaucrats are involved in corruption and commission deal even in import of urgent medical supplies. On the other hand, the Finance Minister has announced that the government has already been bankrupted as the government has no fund even to pay salary to the civil servicemen!
In case of war between India and China, supplies may stop for Nepal from both the countries. Also, India, when it saw a hostile government in Nepal, may impose economic blockade on Nepal. Has Nepal done any homework on such possibilities?
