Party had committed mistake on Mahakali Treaty: Gautam
Kathmandu, 28 June: Nepal Communist Party vice chairman Bamdev Gautam has said that the party had committed a blunder while inking Mahakali Treaty with India, therefore, the party action against him at that time has to be justified.
Gautam, addressing the ongoing Party Standing Committee meeting on Saturday, said that the then party leaderships in favour of the Treaty should regret on their decision.
To recall, in 1996, Nepal and India had inked Mahakali Treaty. The then UML was split on the issue of inking on the treaty. A section had described the Treaty in the interests of Nepal, while, another section had protested the party decision as anti-national act.
