Irregularity in purchase of medical supplies
Kathmandu, 23 June: The Public Account Committee in the Federal Parliament has reached to a primary level conclusion on irregularity in purchase of emergency medical supplies to control Covid-19 pandemic.
Medical supplies were procured by violating existing laws and in a non-transparent manner, the Committee has concluded. The Committee has decided to investigate further on irregularity, reports Naya Patrika daily.
The Health and Population Ministry had procured medical supplies necessary for controlling Covid-19 pandemic worth one billion 240 million rupees from the Omni Business Corporate International Pvt Ltd.
The procurement process was started 48 days ahead but the Ministry didn’t take timely decision and at the last hours through non-transparent manner, the deal was made with the Omni International.
