APF plans to add BOPs

Kathmandu, 2 June: The Armed Police Force, to stop encroachment of Nepali territory and to control illegal and criminal activities taking place from the international borders, has planned to establish more Border Outpost (BOP) in southern and northern border points.

APF spokesperson Praveen Kumar Shrestha informed that along with establishment of BOPs, activities of border encroachment and criminal activities will be controlled.

APF has established two BOPs in Jogbudha of Dadeldhura, Jhulaghat in Baitadi, Chhangrung in Darchula, Hilsha in Humla and Korala in Mustang.

APF inspectors have led these BOPs.

APF has already established BOPs in Kimathanka in Sankhuwasabha and Tatopani in Sindhupalchowk.

APF is preparing to establish additional BOPs in Taplejung, Sindhupalchowk, Gorkha, Bajhang and Dolpa.

Presently, there are 121 BOPs in Nepal’s borders with India, in the near future, the number will be increased to 221, according to the APF.

APF has established BOPs at the distance of 17 kms in Nepal-India border line.

APF has sent a proposal to establish a total of 500 BOPs to effectively monitor, control all activities taking place from the border points and safeguarding Nepali territory from encroachment.

Along with increment of the BOPs, manpower should be increased, reports Gorkhapatra daily.
