King Birendra had conducted referendum in Kalapani

Kathmandu, 20 November: Evidences have been recovered that late King Birendra had conducted referendum in 2036 BS in Kalapani, Lipulekh, Limpyudhara in Darchula District, which Indian has incorporated in its new political map.

In 2036 BS, a referendum was held to choose a political system.

According to Soubhayugya Pradhananga, chief of the National Archeology, according to the record, 25 Panchayats’ citizens in Darchula District had casted their vote in the referendum.

The 25 village panchayats were divided into part 1 and part 2, according to the record. Kalapani, Limpyudhara and Lipuleks were also included in the area where reerrendum was held.

These three areas are now belong to Byas Municipality, reports Nepal Samacharpatra daily.
