POKHARA: Kaski District Security Committee has named seven out of 32 voting booths meant for the by-election at Kaski constituency-2 as highly sensitive from the security perspective.
Keeping in view the security sensitivity of 32 polling booths at 11 wards, the security committee has decided to heighten security surveillance. Of the 32 booths, eight are deemed sensitive while 17 are considered normal.
Kaski CDO Ramesh Kumar KC said security was beefed up at 82 centres of 32 polling booths on the grounds of geographical difficulty, completion among parties, and activities of the anti-polls groups.
CDO KC said that DAO had devised plans to conduct the polls in a free and a fair manner. “DAO will apply different strategies to ensure security for employees, candidates, voters and others,” KC added.
As many as 22 candidates including 10 independent candidates have thrown their hats into the ring. Kaski constituency-2 has 71,871 voters.
