India positive on providing waterways facility for Nepal

Kathmandu, 27 November: India has become positive in providing facility to use her waterways for Nepal. In the ongoing meeting of technical committee to review trade and transit treaty in Kathmandu, India has shown positive gesture in providing such a facility.

India’s inland waterways from Kolkatta-Sahibgunj, Kolkatta-Kalghat and Kolkatta-Vanarashi that Nepal may use to transport goods.

Accordingly, India has agreed to operate bulk cargo from Bishakapattanam to Birgunj, Raksul and Sunawal.

Furthermore, India has agreed to provide two more seaports – Dhamra in Odessa and Mundra in Gujrat.

The Nepali side has hoped that the ongoing meeting will take positive decision on providing these facilities.

The Nepali side has remarked that this is a milestone on trade and transit facilities for Nepal.
