NEA cuts power to Ncell Data Centre

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority’s Pokhara office cut off electricity of Ncell Data Centre on Sunday morning.

According to Teknath Tiwari, the NEA chief for Pokhara office, the authority has cut off electricity of Ncell Data Centre after the company’s officials ignored repeated calls to clear their dues.

“We tried several times to contact the Ncell officials and had requested them to clear their due payment, which is around Rs 130 million,” he said, “We had also given them a 35-day ultimatum to come for a dialogue. However, they never responded.”

He added that if Ncell responds by Monday evening, the issue could be settled.

“All our consumers — from the largest of corporate houses to smallest of private household — are same for us. We have to take action against anyone who ignores our repeated calls,” he added.

According to him, Ncell had earlier knocked on the court’s door to settle this issue. However, as the court has not issued any interim order on the matter, NEA took action as per its own rules, he added.

Ncell officials said they would only be able to issue an official statement on the matter on Monday.
