Isolation centres lying vacant for want of COVID patients

RAJBIRAJ, JANUARY 1

All isolation centres are lying vacant in Saptari.

Earlier, quarantine facilities were set up at all the local levels and isolation centres established in five local levels to accommodate COVID-infected people.

With the reopening of classes, quarantine facilities established at schools have been shut down.

However, isolation centres established at five local levels are lying vacant due to the lack of COVID patients.

Isolation centres located at Saikrishna Medical College, Kanchanrup, Bodebasain, Khadak Municipality and Tilathikoiladi Rural Municipality are still being operated. However, they are lying vacant for want of COVID patients.

District Health Office Chief Duniyalal Yadav, however, said there were 13 active COVID patients in the district. “They are staying in home isolation. Thus, the centres are lying vacant,” said Yadav. As many as 21,098 swab samples were collected and sent for PCR test. Of them, 1,829 tested positive for COVID-19. The report of the remaining people came out negative. So far, 41 people have succumbed to the contagion in the district.

Health office chief Yadav has advised people to take necessary precautions as the risk of the COVID infection is still significant.
