Kathmandu, January 2
Seen in these pictures are civil society activists playing traditional drum “Chyabrung” as they take part in a demonstration against the dissolution of the country’s parliament, in Kathmandu on Thursday, January 1, 2021.
On December 20, PM Oli had recommended the dissolution of House of Representatives (HoR), which was promptly approved by President Bidya Devi Bhandari, while also announcing that mid-term elections would be held in April-May, 2021. This has created much chaos within the political sphere of the country and put the Prime Minister’s and President’s intentions into questioning.
Furthermore, the uncalled move of dissolving the House has ushered much flak and widespread condemnation for Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli.
