Kathmandu, 14 August: After a prolonged dispute between PM and party chairman KP Sharma Oli and another party chairman Pushpakamal Dahal since the Dahal-Nepal camp demanded Oli’s resignation from both the posts, on Thursday the two chairmen held a four-hour-long meeting at Baluatar, PM’s official residence.
Sources claim that Oli has put forward the proposal of the announcement of the unity national convention of the Nepal Communist Party and chairing the unity national convention organizing committee by co-chairman Dahal. Dahal is seen positive on this proposal.
Earlier, the Dahal-Nepal camp in the party was demanding Oli’s resignation from both the posts, however, of late, they had asked Oli to quit one post only.
Instead of quitting the party chairman’s post, Oli has put forward the middle-path formula of announcing unity national convention and constituting a national convention organizing committee chaired by Dahal.
The meeting is continuing today also.
NCP leaders say that for the time being, the threat of split is over.
Earlier, in an interview, PM Oli had remarked that within five days he would initiate a move to keep the party united.
