Kathmandu, 23 August: The six-member task force formed under the convenorship of party general secretary Bishnu Poudel in the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has submitted its report suggesting Prime Minister and party chairman KP Sharma Oli to run the government and another chairman Pushpakamal Dahal to run the party.
The task force has advised the leaderships to keep the party unity by sharing power, however, Oli should not resign from any of the posts.
Earlier, the Dahal-Nepal camp had demanded the resignation of Oli from both the posts – the prime minister and party chairman. Oli had denied quitting any of the posts, which had invited serious dispute in the party and possibility of a split of the party.
So far, the Dahal-Nepal camp has stepped back from the previous demand, which has been reflected in the present report submitted by the task force.
The task force report will be studied by the two chairmen and later brought into discussion in the party secretariat and party standing committee before its implementation.
The task force has suggested the party leaderships for a reshuffle in the cabinet and also change in some province governments.
The task force has formalized Bamdev Gautam’s suggestions presented earlier at the party. Earlier, Oli, in the process of ending the prolonged dispute, had given these options to Dahal for keeping the party unified.
Shankar Pokhrel, Surendra Pandey, Bhim Rawal, Janardan Sharma and Pampha Bhushal are the members in the task force. The task force was formed by Oli and Dahal by nominating two members each from three groups Oli camp, Dahal camp and Madhav Nepal camp in the ruling party.
