The Kathmandu Police has thumbed its nose at the Kathmandu Municipality, the Ministry of Housing and Physical Planning, the Deputy Prime Minister and the long suffering population of Kathmandu Valley. It is brazenly flouting government plans for beautifying the Ranipokhari area, has declared itself above the law by asserting that it doesn’t have to obey building codes regarding new buildings, and has disobeyed the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister to immediately stop construction of a new building on the site of the Bagmati Aanchaladhis office.
