Spontaneous youths in the street demonstration
Kathmandu, 13 June: The ongoing street demonstration of the youths started from Kathmandu has been intensified in many districts by Friday.
A group, “Covid-19 Nepal: Enough is Enough” was created on last Saturday. The group later developed a plan to gather in front of the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluatar to express public dissatisfaction on the government action to control Covid-19 pandemic.
The very group is mobilizing street demonstrations in the capital city and other parts of the country.
By Friday evening, one hundred 59 thousand youths have become the member of this facebook group.
The group has launched the movement to organize a massive gathering at Maitighar Mandela today.
Rina Regmi, a campaigner in the movement, said, “The government has become irresponsible. We wish, it should correct its behavior.”
“So far, we are not associated with any of the political parties,” said Regmi.
Political parties such as Janata Samajbadi Party, Sajha Party and Bibeksheel Party have already expressed solidarity to the movement launched by the youths.
The youths have raised four prominent issues. They are:
Intensify the area of PCR test to identify Covid-19 pandemic; immediately stop RDT test; make public the expenditure worth ten billion rupees in the name of control of Covid-19 pandemic; manage quarantine venue scientifically and end inhuman behavior there, the Kantipur daily reports.
