Discrimination on PCR test

Kathmandu, 16 August: Commoners, who approached to the Teku Hospital for PCR test after they found their contact with those Covid-19 infected patients, were asked to go to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Department (EDCD). The EDCD Lab sent them back without conducting sample tests saying that the local bodies will conduct such tests.
At a time when commoners were demanding for the swab test, the CDCD lab technicians were busy in collecting throat swab of those in the Ministers’ Quarter.
On that day 238 persons’ swab was collected from the Ministers’ Quarter.
The health technicians are running behind those people in the government, whereas those commoners, who are needed to take swab sample are being neglected, said a staffer at the Kathmandu Metropolitan Corporation viewing such discrimination performed by the Health Ministry.
Along with the rise in the infected cases in the Valley, commoners are visiting different hospitals on the doubt of their contact with those infected people.
Commoners are facing different trouble to conduct PCR test but those people having reach in power are getting such service at their residence, reports Kantipur daily.
Some private hospitals have also got permission to conduct PCR test, however, they are charging 5500 rupees per person.
