Kathmandu, 8 August: The ongoing quarrel prolonged for more than a month in the Nepal Communist Party for power has been halt for time being after the rapid spread of the coronavirus in the Valley.
Since Covid-19 cases were seen in security personnel deployed for the security of NCP co-chairman Pushpakamal Dahal, the leaders have cancelled their meeting with people. Dahal’s family underwent throat swab test immediately after some of his security personnel found Covid-19 positive. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli also underwent PCR test, however, his report was negative.
Party’s senior leaders Madhav Nepal, JN Khanal and party spokesman Narayankaji Shrestha have also stopped meeting and staying at their home.
After cancellation of the Wednesday meeting between Oli and Dahal, the two leaders have not met again. Although the deadlock in the party is as-it-is, as leaders have stopped their public activities, there has been seen unannounced ceasefire in the ruling party.
So far, Dahal-Oli camp has not made any compromise on the demand of Oli’s resignation from both the posts – PM and party chairman, whereas, Oli is denying to quit any of the posts.
