Kathmandu, 4 August : The Parliamentary Committee on Women and Welfare has directed the Ministry of Home Affairs to amend the existing legislation regarding punishment against those involving in acid attacks.
The committee has also instructed the ministry to effectively regulate the purchase and sale of acid as acid attack has increased unabated.
The existing legislation on acid attack has provisioned three to eight years of imprisonment to the perpetrator based on the wounds suffered by the victim and monetary compensation from Rs 100,000 to Rs 500,00.
