
Kathmandu, 8 August: 13 international airlines companies have applied for resuming their flights to Kathmandu.
The government has planned to resume domestic and international flights partially from 17 August amidst the spread of Covid-19 pandemic in the country. However, the government has not been able to take a final decision in resuming air service.
Since 24 March, all domestic and international flights have been suspended as a precaution against the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
Nepal Airlines, Himalayan Airlines, Turkish Air, Salam Air, Indigo, China Southern, Air China, Air Jajira, Fly Dubai, Air Malaysia, Malinda Air and Air Arabia have applied for permission to resume their flights to Kathmandu, said Rajkumar Chhetri, spokesman, Civil Aviation Authority.
The government is planning to resume 25 per cent domestic and international flights compared to the flights that were taking place earlier to the Covid-19 case was appeared in Nepal.
Suresh Acharya, joint secretary, Tourism Ministry, said that permission can be given to operating 12 international and 40 domestic flights a day, reports Annapurna Post daily.
