KAWASOTI, DECEMBER 27
The Landless Squatters’ Problems Resolution Commission is at work to begin the distribution of land ownership certificates to landless squatters in the first phase after four months, said the commission.
In the first phase, the commission will distribute documents to landless squatters at 14 local levels in Nawalparasi for which an agreement was struck.
Commission Chair Devi Prasad Gyawali confirmed this at an inaugural programme held for collection of details of landless squatters, Dalits and unmanaged settlements at Kawasoti of Nawalpur in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East) yesterday. Data collection would be complete by three months and work would not be affected by the latest political situation, he added.
Kawasoti Municipality was committed to contributing to the completion of distribution of landownership certificates, said municipality Mayor Chandra Kumari Pun. “We are on the mission of turning landless squatters into land owners. The documents would be distributed soon,” she said.
The municipality, on December 23, had issued a notice to landless squatters, Dalits and unmanaged settlements to file application for registration.
