110 Nepalis died in UAE in five months; Covid-19 was not sole cause

The Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi says 110 Nepalis working and residing in the United Arab Emirates have died since March 11. The deceased include 105 men and five women.

According to a notice issued by the embassy on Wednesday, 35 men and one woman died of Covid-19. Other causes include natural deaths, suicide, murder, and accidents.

Of them, 69 bodies were disposed of within the UAE. These include all victims of Covid-19 and 33 others, the embassy informs. The embassy had coordinated with the Nepali families back home to get consent for burial or cremation.

The other 26 bodies have been sent to Nepal in this period whereas four are being sent soon.
