Lamjung septuagenarian robbed of pension on bus

LAMJUNG: A septuagenarian has been robbed of nearly Rs 300,000 cash in Lamjung district today.The victim, a former Indian Army soldier, said it was his pension amount.

Man Lal Gurung (73), a permanent resident of Ilam Pokhari in eastern Lamjung, was robbed of Rs 293,500 while returning home from Beshishahar, the district headquarters, with the six-month pension amount.

“A pension camp was being held in the district headquarters. I withdrew the amount for upcoming Dashain,” said Gurung, adding, “I had boarded a bus to Borang Khola. But, I realised the cash had already been robbed only after I got off the bus.”

The pension amount was wrapped in a cloth and kept in his bag, he informed.A pension camp for the former Indian Army soldiers is organised in the district headquarters twice a year.
