Kathmandu, 8 November: In order to maintain smooth supply of sugar, Salt Trading Corporation(STC) has started importing sugar in huge quantity of the 20,000 tons of sugar that STC is importing, 5,000 tons has arrived in Nepal.
The first consignment of 1250 tons of sugar had arrived in Birgunj on October 20 while the second and third consignment arrived last week, according to Brajesh Kumar Jha, Divisional Manager of STC. The rate of sugar in Birgunj stands at Rs, 74.50 per kilo gram and Rs. 77.20 per kilo gram in the Kathmandu valley.
